Weddings at Hitchin Priory
Hitchin Priory is a charming 14th Century building, set in 19 acres of magnificent gardens and parkland nestling on the River Hiz.
Take your vows al fresco! Hitchin Priory has an outdoor wedding licence for civil ceremonies so if you’re dreaming of an outdoor “I do”, Hitchin Priory is the wedding venue for you.
Steeped in history dating back to 1317, Hitchin Priory was later frequented by Henry VIII and many original features remain, including cloisters, Monks Walk with its original beams and banqueting halls with grand fireplaces – it’s truly a unique venue for your dream wedding day.
Set in the historic market town of Hitchin, our venue has proved popular for both grand receptions and smaller intimate gatherings; from a simple soiree or civil partnership in our beautifully appointed reception rooms, to traditional Asian or white wedding celebrations in our Priory Marquee.
Licensed for Civil Ceremonies, from 2 to 100 people, Hitchin Priory can cater up to 74 guests at a formal wedding breakfast in the splendour of the Main House, with 150 guests for an evening reception, or up to 300 guests in the Marquee, which overlooks our stunning grounds.
Our 19 acres of picturesque grounds are also the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs and ideal for guests to enjoy post ceremony drinks.
Whatever your requirements, our experienced wedding planner at Hitchin Priory will support you every step of the way to ensure you have your perfect day. An event manager will also be on hand on the big day to ensure all runs smoothly.
“We had our wedding at Hitchin Priory this past Saturday, 17 March 2018, and our day went absolutely perfectly, thanks in large to the excellent staff who were on hand to help with absolutely anything we needed. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the day, as we did. The food was lovely and everything was organised down to the last detail. Thank you very much to the team.” Laura and Dave Russell
