Announcing the launch of Hitchin’s new fine dining restaurant – The Delme, Hitchin Priory
Steeped in history, Hitchin Priory is located in one of the UK’s renowned and picturesque market towns in Hertfordshire.
Hitchin offers a quality culinary heritage and has the reputation as a foodie’s paradise. Unlike many other towns, it has a rich diversity of independent businesses with a huge range of coffee shops and restaurants. Now those more serious foodies need to take note that Hitchin is now host to what is its newest and arguably the finest fine dining restaurant, The Delme, Hitchin Priory.
Perched on the outskirts of the town, the food served at The Delme is a far cry from the typical restaurants you’ll find down the high street.
Courtesy of the Hitchin Priory’s highly experienced head chef Jerry Cox and his well-honed kitchen team, the restaurant’s modern and plated cooking really comes into its own with an A la carte menu, which offers authentic dishes. Diners are truly spoilt for choice with a host of notable, well-executed dishes, which are eye-catching and deliciously flavoursome.
Highlights from the starters include goat’s chees fritters served with courgette salad; pan-fried duck breast, creamed cabbage, chestnuts and caramelised pear; salmon fish cakes served with rocket, capers and lime dressing, and ham hock, chicken terrine with piccalilli and toasted brioche.
The Delme’s exemplary list of mains includes such delicious dishes as grilled Moroccan trout with chermoula, crushed chive potatoes and pan seared green beans; chicken breast stuffed with spinach and ricotta, fondant potato, baby carrots and tender stem broccoli; confit duck leg, citrus and honey buttered potatoes, demi-glace and pan seared seasonal vegetables; butter roast rib-eye steak, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, peppercorn or garlic herb sauce and spinach and cheese tortellini, creamy mushroom sauce and heady porcini mushrooms.
Amongst the contemporary home-made desserts are vanilla and gingerbread cheesecake, strawberry coulis topped with caramelised hazelnuts; warm chocolate brownie, salted caramel ice cream and chocolate tuile; vanilla panna cotta with blueberry compote and warm pecan caramel tart served with citrus cream and honey glaze.
An array of quality wines and other drinks are served from the bar area.
